چکیده

Inadequate coronary vasodilator reserve, 1 luminal narrowing of coronary capillaries, and systolic compression of the intramyocardial small arteries are considered to contribute towards myocardial ischaemia in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Previously, abnormal phasic coronary flow velocity pattern in the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) in patients with HCM, which was characterised by flow reversal in systole and slow acceleration and rapid deceleration in diastole, has been observed by Doppler guide wire method. However, intramyocardial coronary flow characteristics in patients with HCM have not been reported. We aimed to evaluate phasic intramyocardial coronary flow velocity pattern in patients with HCM by transthoracic Doppler echocardiography.

Noninvasive assessment of intramyocardial coronary flow in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy by high-resolution Doppler echocardiography.

Dyspnea and angina have been described in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Given the complexity of the coronary microcirculation, the pathophysiological mechanisms of angina are discussed. The last generation of echo devices allows the investigation of epicardial coronary flow by means of the standard transthoracic approach (TTE). In the present study we describe 5 patients affe...

The non-invasive documentation of coronary microcirculation impairment: role of transthoracic echocardiography

Transthoracic Doppler echocardiographic-derived coronary flow reserve is an useful hemodynamic index to assess dysfunction of coronary microcirculation. Isolated coronary microvascular abnormalities are overt by reduced coronary flow reserve despite normal epicardial coronary arteries. These abnormalities may occur in several diseases (arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterole...

Transthoracic Doppler echocardiographic analysis of phasic coronary blood flow velocity in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

OBJECTIVE To use transthoracic Doppler echocardiography to assess coronary blood flow non-invasively in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. DESIGN High frequency transthoracic Doppler echocardiography was used to assess resting phasic coronary velocity patterns in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and to define the relation between coronary flow patterns and clinical, echocardi...

Transthoracic Doppler echocardiography – noninvasive diagnostic window for coronary flow reserve assessment

This review focuses on transthoracic Doppler echocardiography as noninvasive method used to assess coronary flow reserve (CFR) in a wide spectrum of clinical settings. Transthoracic Doppler echocardiography is rapidly gaining appreciation as popular tool to measure CFR both in stenosed and normal epicardial coronary arteries (predominantly in left anterior descending coronary artery). Post-sten...

Prognostic value of echocardiography-derived coronary flow reserve.

To the Editor: We read with great interest the paper by Nakanishi et al entitled “Impaired coronary flow reserve as a marker of microvascular dysfunction to predict long-term cardiovascular outcomes, acute coronary syndrome and the development of heart failure”.1 The authors demonstrate that coronary flow reserve (CFR) is a significant and independent determinant of long-term cardiovascular eve...
